Cunard. Cunard defines traditional cruising on their three ships the Queen Elizabeth 2, the Caronia, and the world's largest and most expensive cruise ship ever in 2004, the Queen Mary 2. Since 1840, Cunard's ships have delivered a classic British experience. Although luxurious and top-rated, Cunard cruises can be surprisingly affordable, with a wide range of categories. Many consider a Trans-Atlantic voyage on the Queen Mary 2, which is the only ship regularly crossing the Atlantic, to be the pinnacle of cruising. Cunard even includes return airfare on these crossings in most pricing.

Highlights. Cunard's opulent ships offer elegance and sophistication throughout, whether considering dining, entertainment, or on-board facilities. For example, on the Queen Mary 2 you can enjoy gourmet fare in the Todd English Restaurant, or luxurious spa treatments in the Canyon Ranch SpaClub. On the QE2, the class of service you book will dictate your dining room and lounge; and as a further throwback to a bygone era, even a kennel and garage are available.

Who Loves Cunard? Anyone comfortable in a very sophisticated atmosphere, with expectations for attentive service, will enjoy a Cunard cruise.

Locations. In addition to the flagship Trans-Atlantic route, Cunard's ships ply the waters worldwide, including Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Africa, Europe, the Baltic, Scandinavia/Russia, New England/Canada, the Panama Canal, Asia and Australia.

Competition. Compare to Silversea, Crystal, Seabourn and Radisson Seven Seas.

Pricing. Brochure pricing starts at about $280 per day per person, including port charges, but excluding airfare.
